SONI and EirGrid have published the 2023 Annual Innovation Report for consultation. This report captures the projects that have progressed during the 2023 calendar year, as well as the future potential for these projects.
We are seeking responses to the following questions:
On Section 3: Innovation in 2023 including Annex 1
1. Do you agree with the proposed future potential for projects that are ongoing or initiated? Are there any additional considerations SONI and EirGrid should make in their plans for next steps?
2. For completed projects, are there any additional steps you believe SONI and EirGrid should be pursuing?
3. Do you have any suggestions for additional projects SONI and EirGrid should be pursuing?
On Section 4: Innovation Trials Sandbox
4. Do you agree with SONI and EirGrid’s view that a Data Sandbox could incentivise innovation in the energy sector?
5. Do you have suggestions for applications that could utilise such a Data Sandbox? Please provide some information on potential projects to help inform the future design of the Sandbox.
6. Would the potential for funding/support serve as an incentive to participate in a Data Sandbox trial?
7. Do you have concerns around the Data Sandbox conditions for use?
